Victorian Mews House in Notting Hill Gate, West London, W9
restoration : interior design : bespoke furniture
Despite boasting well-preserved period features externally, the interior
of this house had lost it's Victorian expression completely. Our client
wanted to enhance this dichotomy by re-styling the accommodation with
an uncompromisingly modernist scheme. The brief also asked for the
floor plan to be remodelled to allow for more flexibility, the fabric
of the property to be renewed and updated and the house fully refurbished.
We renovated the house, both internally and externally. Essential
services and systems were modernised to create a state-of-the-art,
energy-efficient house. Using solid oak for the floor and internal
joinery, we established a high quality feel throughout. The stainless
steel kitchen furniture was formed by specialist craftsmen to our
design and promotes a futuristic feel. The sharp angles of the solid
oak staircase are softened by the glass balustrade and contemporary
lighting.
Meticulously designed to make best use of the space, the bathrooms
benefit from a clean, streamlined treatment, featuring unexpected
materials to augment the modernist feel. We designed the handcrafted
furniture with a simple, minimalist finish to provide essential
storage for this family home.
