Conservation Area, Grade II Listed
This grand house is one of three that were built together to resemble
one Classic Villa. The lower ground floor had been originally designed
for service and utility and as such was disconnected from the other
floors. Our client wanted to unite this floor with the rest of the
house and to reinstate the period features, which had largely been
stripped-out over time.
We sourced expert craftsmen to restore the original staircase and
extend it down to the lower ground floor. By removing partitioning,
we created a sense of light and space in the two lower floors and
added ceiling-height folding doors to provide flexibility to the
spaces – ideal for modern family living. The herringbone parquet
floor unifies these areas and accentuates the formal, period styling.
Period features were sensitively restored to the property to re-establish
the impressive Georgian interiors. Bespoke furniture, made from
hardwood, was intricately designed to meet our client's needs and
gives the house accessible storage spaces and elegant character.
